Julissa Marenco is the Assistant Secretary for Communications and External Affairs at the Smithsonian Institution.  The Smithsonian Institution is the world’s largest museum, education and research complex, with 19 museums, 9 research facilities and the National Zoo.  Julissa oversees the Office of Communications and External Affairs which includes Public Affairs, Government Relations, Visitor Services and Special Events and Protocol.  Additionally, she serves as the principal media spokesperson for the Smithsonian and is a key adviser to the Secretary and senior leadership team.  Julissa brought more than 20 years of experience, and most recently served as Chief External Affairs Officer at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
