On Executive Search Firms
I like to work with folks that have a deep bench — a track record in terms of having recruited people and being really good at what they do. They have to be respectful of my time and use it well. I always ask how many other searches the partner is working on. And I want to know who’s going to be doing the search — how many resources are on it and how frequently I will get reports.
My job is to help the search firm understand what works here. They aren’t going to know our culture, so the only way to see if there’s a fit is to spend time with them and have them talk to people internally.
